Multicultural Radio Broadcasting, Inc. (MRBI) was founded in 1982. Its initial business focus was the U.S. radio broadcasting industry. Today MRBI is the largest Asian American owned radio group as well as the largest Asian American owned television group in the U.S.
Headquartered in New York, the company has two regional operations centers, one in Pasadena, California, the other in Lower Manhattan of New York City, and twenty local offices through out eleven states.
The mission of MRBI is to serve the New American communities. The company achieves this mission via its broadcasting platform by:
- Providing current and up-to-date local and international news
- Offering family, entertainment, educational, and sports programming in the thirty languages representing some of the recent immigrant communities
- Informing these communities regarding relevant federal, state, and local government policies and regulations changes
- Coordinating with emergency response teams by communicating to the appropriate communities in a preferred language, in relation to alerts and status of any urgent situation
- Supporting disaster major relief activities in the U.S. and abroad
- Organizing major events to celebrate the rich cultures of the diverse New American communities
